WAYNE THOMAS SCHOLARSHIP 2023 RECIPIENT: BEN WILCOX
In conjunction with the McLaren Vale Wine Show Chair of Judges Andrew Thomas, the McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association is pleased to announce Ben Wilcox from d'Arenberg as the 2023 recipient of the Wayne Thomas Scholarship.
The volume and calibre of applications this year was exceptional, and the diversity of applicants spanned the full spectrum of McLaren Vale's grape, wine and tourism sectors. The combined experience of all applicants highlighted decades of tasting experience and global qualifications from our region's leading winemakers and tasting room managers.
Congratulations Ben, and sincere thanks to all applicants, we wish you all the best in further pursuing your wine judging education.
ABOUT THE WAYNE THOMAS SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship aims to foster judging talent from McLaren Vale, and the successful applicant will receive:
- Fully funded scholarship to attend the Australian Wine Research Institute’s Advanced Wine Assessment Course valued at $4,900, and
- An invitation to judge as an Associate Judge at the McLaren Vale Wine Show.
The scholarship is designed for staff of all Association Members, including (but not limited to) cellar door staff, winemakers, viticulturists and marketing personnel.
