MVGWTA Committees and Working Groups

MVGWTA has six Committees and Working Groups established to help coordinate a number of annual events in collaboration with MVGWTA, as well as organising workshops, further education and maintain information resources for MVGWTA Members.

The Committee Charters can be viewed by clicking on the headings below:

Wine Show Committee

Vision and Mission:

  • Showcase McLaren Vale wines and the region to local, interstate and international markets
  • Ensure that excellence in varietal expression, viticulture, production, provenance and sub-regionality are celebrated
  • Develop a vehicle that provides experiences and creates value for the producers and assists them in effectively promoting their products
  • Contribute to building the presence and prestige that is brand McLaren Vale
  • Innovate, engage and educate in order to enable the producers to connect with media and the general public to build interest in the region as a whole

Wine Tourism Committee

Vision and Mission:

  • Increase Cellar Door staff knowledge of McLaren Vale (region, experiences, products)
  • Encourage and support excellence in customer service and the complete cellar door and wine tourism experience

Meet Your Maker Committee

Vision and Mission:

  • Build brand awareness of brand "McLaren Vale"
  • Enable trade to meet with winemakers in an environment that has NO pressure of sales
  • Establish direct relationships with trade so that future business dealings may be made without the formality of introduction

Districts of McLaren Vale Working Group

Vision and Mission:

  • Investigate the different winegrowing terrains of McLaren Vale and define those differences
  • Increase knowledge of McLaren Vale's geology, and the different winegrowing terrains, by running education programmes and developing materials for use by Members

Viticultural Reference Group

Vision and Mission:

  • Discuss, explore and provide feedback to MVGWTA regarding viticultural practices (issues, education, international standards, and more) which will continue to ensure the sustainable advancement of the wine grape industry in McLaren Vale

Phylloxera and Biosecurity Working Group

Vision and Mission:

  • Discuss, understand, educate and act on matters of biosecurity or vine health which may affect the sustainability of McLaren Vale's wine industry
  • Increase knowledge of and prevent biosecurity threats to McLaren Vale's wine industry
